Given:

The marked price of a laptop is Rs. 48750. If the shopkeeper gives two successive discounts 10% and x% and sells it in Rs. 40365. Find out the value of x?

To find:

The value of x?

Solution:

We know,

\boxed{\bold{S.P. = M.P. - Discount }}

\boxed{\bold{Discount = \frac{Discount\%}{100} \times M.P. }}

The M.P. of a laptop = Rs. 48750

Finding the S.P. after 1st discount:

First discount% = 10%

∴ The S.P. after the first discount is,

= 48750 - (\frac{10}{100} \times 48750 )

= 48750 -4875

= Rs.\:43875

Finding the S.P. after 2nd discount:

Second discount% = x%

The final S.P. after the second discount = Rs. 40365

Therefore, we can write the equation as,

43875 - (\frac{x}{100} \times 43875 ) = 40365

\implies (\frac{x}{100} \times 43875 ) = 43875 - 40365

\implies (\frac{x}{100} \times 43875 ) = 3510

\implies x = \frac{3510 \times 100}{43875}

\implies \bold{x = 8\%}

Thus, the value of x is → 8%.
