The marked price of an article is 25% above the cost price,but the shopkeeper allows his customer a commission of 10%. find his gain percent on the cost price.

let CP be x.

MP = x+25x/100. [x+25% of x]

= 125x/100

discount = 10% of 125x/100

= 125x/1000

SP = 125x/100 - 125x/1000

= 1125x/1000

Gain = 1125x/1000 - x

= 125x/1000

Gain% = (1125x/1000)/x × 100

= 1125x/1000x × 100

= 1125/10

= 112.5%
