Given:

  • MP of an article is 2600 when 10% discount is allowed on it .

To Find:

  • How much a customer should pay with 13% VAT (Value Added Tax) ?

Solution:

Let, Original CP = x

We know that,

Original CP = Discounted Price + Discount %

→ x = 2600 + 10%

→ x = 2600 + {(10/100)x}

→ x = 2600 + (1/10)x

→ x - (x/10) = 2600

→ (10x - x)/10 = 2600

→ 9x/10 = 2600

→ x = (2600 × 10)/9

→ x = 26000/9

x = 2888.89

The customer should pay

SP = Original CP + VAT %

→ SP = ₹ 2888.89 + 13%

→ SP = ₹ 2888.89 + {(13/100) × 2888.89}

→ SP = ₹ 2888.89 + ₹ 375.47

SP = 3,264.36

Therefore , The customer should pay ₹ 3,264.36
