Given : the marks obtained by 30 students is given in the following table : marks : 70,58,60,52,65,75,68 no of students :3,5,4,7,6,2,3.

To Find : probability that a student secures (i) 60 marks (ii) 75 marks (iii) less than 60 marks

Solution:

Marks :   Number of students

52           7

58           5

60           4

65           6

68           3

70           3

75           2

Total     30

probability that a student secures (i) 60 marks   =   4/30

= 2/15

probability that a student secures 75 marks   =  2/30

= 1/15

probability that a student secures  less than 60 marks = (7 + 5)/30

= 12/30

= 2/5
