Given :- The Marks Obtained In Five Different Tests By A Student Are Respectively 32,40,68,72 And 55. The Importance Of First Test is (3/2) times Than That Of The Third Test And The Importance Of Second Test Is Double Than The First Test. The Importance Of Fourth Test Is 2(1/2) times Than That Of The Third Test. And The Importance Of Fifth Test Is Double Than That Of The Fourth Test.

To Find :- The Weighted Mean Of The Marks ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the importance of third test is 2x .

so,

→ Importance of first test = (3/2) * 2x = 3x

→ Importance of second test = 2 * 3x = 6x

→ Importance of fourth test = (5/2) * 2x = 5x

→ Importance of fifth test = 2 * 5x = 10x

now,

Test ----- Marks---- weightage(Xi) ----- M * W

1 ---------- 32 ---------------- 3x -------------- 96x

2 ----------40 ---------------- 6x --------------240x

3 ----------68 ---------------- 2x --------------136x

4 ----------72 ---------------- 5x --------------360x

5 ----------55 ---------------- 10x -------------550x

_______________ 26x 1382x

then,

→ The Weighted Mean Of The Marks = 1382x/26x = 53.16 (Ans.)

Given  : The marks obtained in five different tests by a student are respectively 32, 40, 68, 72 and 55.

The importance of first test is 1 1/2 times than that of the third test and the importance of second test is double than the first test.

The importance of fourth test is 2 1/2 times than that of the third test and the importance of fifth test is double than that of the fourth test.

To Find  :  the weighted mean of the marks

Solution:

importance of 3rd test  =   2x

The importance of first test =  (3/2) 2x  = 3x

the importance of second test is double than the first test. = 2 * 3x = 6x

The importance of fourth test is 2 1/2 times than that of the third test  = 5x

importance of fifth test is double than that of the fourth test = 10x

Test   Marks   Weightage       Mean * weightage

1          32            3x                     96x

2          40           6x                   240x

3          68           2x                   136x

4          72           5x                   360x

5          55           10x                   550x

                          26x                   1382x
