Given : The marks of 20 students in physics - 56,32,57,74,12,45,68,87,11,34,53,23,47,24,78,37,68,79,44,67

To Find : a. The average marks

                b. two groups on the basis of class performance

Solution : a. The average marks

We know, Average marks = The sum of the marks of 20 students/ The number of students

                 Average marks = 56+32+57+74+12+45+68+87+11+34+53+23+47+24+78+37+68+79+44+67/20

(dividing the sum of marks by the number of students)

                  Average Marks =996/20

                                             = 49.8

               b. Two groups on the basis of performance -

first group - 87,79,78,74,68,68,67,57,56,53 (greater than the average marks ,49.8)

second group - 32,12,45,11,34,23,47,24,37,44(lower than the average mark , 49.8)

Hence, the average mark is 49.8. Two groups are - first group - 87,79,78,74,68,68,67,57,56,53(greater than the average marks)

second group- 32,12,45,11,34,23,47,24,37,44(lower than the average marks).
