Answer:

g₁ = GM / R²                      [ for the earth ]

g₂ = G×2M / 4R²                [ for the planet ]

  = GM / 2R²

g₁ : g₂ = 2 : 1                                [ after simplifying ]

The acceleration due to gravity of the second planet would be half of that of the earth .
