Given:

The mass of a body is doubled and it's velocity becomes half.

To find:

New linear momentum ?

Calculation:

  • Initial mass = m
  • Initial velocity = v

Now, initial MOMENTUM

P1 = m × u

=> P1 = mv

  • Now, new mass = 2m
  • New velocity = v/2.

Now, new MOMENTUM:

P2 = 2m × v/2

=> P2 = mv

\star So, linear momentum remains same.
