the mass of a brick is 2.5 kg its dimension are 10cm×2cm.find the pressure the brick exerts on the ground if it is rested on. (i) a10cm×5cm base (ii) a5cm×2cm base. (take 1 kg.wt.=10N)

Mass of brick = 2.5 kg ; gravitational acceleration 10 m/s2
F= mass × acceleration
F = 2.5×10
F =25 Newtons
Now that we have got the force let's find pressure in both cases:
a)force= 25N; Area = 10cm×2 cm =20cm2
Pressure = force/area
= 25N/20 cm2
=1.5 N/cm2
b)Force=25N; area =10cm×2cm - 5cm×2cm =10cm2
Pressure= force/area
=25N/10cm 2
=2.5N/cm2
Hope this helped!
