Initial velocity(u) = 72 km/hr × 5/18 = 20 m/s

Final velocity (v)= 0 m/s

Time taken to stop the vehicle = 8s

Mass of scooter and Kashvi = 170Kg

We will use the formula F = ma.

a = v - u / t

= 0 - 20/8

= -20/8. Therefore, Retardation =

= 2.5 \: m\ {s}^{ - 2}=2.5m s

−2

F = ma

= 170 × -2.5

425 N ( Answer )

Explanation:

First convert the km/hr to m/s.

Negative acceleration = Retardation

Newton's Second Law Formula:-

F = ma

where,

m = mass of the body

a = acceleration produced by the body
