mass by mass percentage of solution = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 100

Therefore, (mass of solute/mass of solution) = 20/100 = 1/5

hence, mass of solute = mass of solution/5 = 550g/5 = 110 grams

The mass of solute is 110 grams.
