Answer:

8 grams of oxygen will be in (1×8)/32 moles of CO2= 0.25.moles . 1 mole = 6.023 × 1023 molecules. Thus, 0.25 moles = 6.023×1023× 0.25 molecules.

Given:

The molecule is Carbon dioxide.

To Find:

The mass of Carbon dioxide containing 8 grams of oxygen.

Solution:

Molecular Mass of Carbon dioxide.

= (12 + 2) x 16

= 12 + 32

= 44 g

It is clear that 32 g oxygen is present in 44 g Carbon dioxide.

Therefore,

8 g will be present in

 \frac{(44)(8)}{32}

= 44/11

= 11 g of Carbon dioxide.

The mass of Carbon dioxide containing 8 grams of oxygen is 11 grams.
