Answer :

➥ The pressure on its base = 980 N/m²

Given :

➤ Mass of rectangular block (m) = 0.5 kg

➤ Length of rectangular block (l) = 10 cm

➤ Breadth of a rectangular block (b) = 5 cm

To Find :

➤ Pressure on its base (P) = ?

Solution :

To find the pressure on its base first we will need to convert the length and breadth of a rectangular block cm into m, then after we will find the area of rectangular block, after that, we find force upon it After all this we will find the pressure on its base.

◈ Length = 10 cm

→ Length = 10/100

→ Length = 0.1 m

◈ Breadth = 5 cm

→ Breadth = 5/100

→ Breadth = 0.05 m

Now ,

We will find the area of rectangular block.

→ Area of rectangular block = length × breadth

→ Area of rectangular block = 0.1 × 0.05

→ Area of rectangular block = 0.005 m²

We can find force by using the formula which says Force = mass × acceleration

☁️️ So let's calculate Force !

As we know that

→ Force = mass × acceleration

→ Force = 0.5 × 9.8

→ Force = 4.9 N

Now, we have force acting upon it and it's area of rectangular plot,

  • Force acting upon it = 4.9 N
  • Area of rectangular plot = 0.005 m²

☃️ So let's find the pressure on it's base by using the formula:

\tt{:\implies Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}}

\tt{:\implies Pressure =  \cancel{\dfrac{4.9}{0.005}}}

\bf{:\implies  \underline{ \:  \:  \underline{ \red{ \:  \: Pressure =  980 \: N/m^2 \:  \: }} \:  \: }}

Hence, the Pressure on its base is 980 N/m².
