The mass of sulphur dioxide produced by burning 16 g of sulphur in excess of oxygen in contact process is g. (Average atomic mass: S = 32 u, O = 16 u).

here, consider one mole of sulphur react with one mole of oxygen to form sulphur diaoxide
then the atomic mass of so2=32+(2×16)
(from given)
therefore atomic mass of so2 is 64
but we use 16gm of sulphur which is half of one mole
hence 64/2=32
