Here,the mass of the body,m=40kg

As mass is a constant,it will remain same in all places;Doesn't matter if it is on moon or earth.

The acceleration due to gravity on earth,g= 9.8m/s^2.

We know,

Weight=mg

=40*9.8

=392

So,the weight of the body is 392 Newton on the earth.

Hope this will help you.

The mass of a body on the Moon is 40 kg.

We have to find the weight of the body on the Earth.

before solving it, we need to understand one of the most important points. that is -

mass of a body is the fundamental quantity which can't be changed by changing its position. it will remain same in all places.”

so the mass of the body on the Earth's surface = 40 kg.

now weight of body on the Earth's surface = mass of the body × acceleration due to gravity.

we know,

acceleration due to gravity on the Earth's surface is 9.8 m/s²

so, weight of body = 40 kg × 9.8 m/s²

= 392 kgm/s² = 392 N [ ∵ 1 kgm/s² = 1 N]

Therefore the weight of body on the Earth's surface is 392 N.

[note : if question asks to find the weight of body on the Moon's surface. we just need to do 1/6 times of weight of body on the Earth's surface. because g on moon's surface is 1/6 times of g on Earth's surface ]
