mass of electron, m = 9.8 × 10^-28 g = 9.8 × 10^-31 Kg

uncertainty in the velocity, ∆v = 2 × 10^-3 cm/s = 2 × 10^-5 m/s

from Heisenberg's uncertainty principle,

∆P × ∆x = h/4π

where ∆P is uncertainty in linear momentum. i.e., ∆P = m.∆v

∆x is uncertainty in position and h is Plank's constant.

so, m.∆v × ∆x = h/4π

or, ∆x = h/(4πm∆v)

= 6.62 × 10^-34/(4 × 3.14 × 9.8 × 10^-31 × 2 × 10^-5)

= 0.027 × 10^(-34 + 31 + 5)

= 2.7 m

hence, uncertainty in the position is 2.7m
