The use of fuse safeguards the circuit and appliances connected in that circuit from being damaged. An alloy of lead and tin is used as a material of fuse because it has low melting point and high resistivity.

The material used for fuse has low melting point.

it should  have the melting point less than that of device as it should stop the current to flow further as the fuse wire will melt the circuit will be broken and the device will be saved
