0.5mole BaCl2

1 mole H2SO4

To find:

Maximum amount of BaSO4 obtained

Solution:

The balanced reaction is as follows:

BaCl2 + H2SO4 --> BaSO4 + 2HCl

So, 1 mole BaCl2 gives 1 mole BaSO4

Since the amount of BaCl2 is less than H2SO4, BaCl2 is the limiting reagent.

After completion of reaction, 0 mole BaCl2 is left and 0.5 mole BaSO4 is formed.

0.5 mole of H2SO4 is also left.

Hence, the maximum amount of BaSO4 that can be obtained is 0.5 mole.
