y = x + 1/x
This function can be defined for all numbers except x = 0 as y -> infinity. But x = 0 doesn't appear in closed interval [1/3, 4/3], so that doesn't concern here.
Maximum value is at x = 1/3,
y = x + 1/x
y = 1/3 + 3
y = 10/3
Minimum value is at x = 1,
y = x + 1/x
y = 1 + 1
y = 2
Therefore, maximum and minimum values of y are 10/3 and 2 respectively.
