Given : The maximum value of resultant vector is 5 N and the minimum value is 1 N find the resultant of the forces when they act at 60 °

Answer:

Given that ,

|F_1|+|F_2|=5N\\\\|F_1|-|F_2|=1N

By solving these two eqs , we get ,

|F_1|+|F_2|-|F_1|+|F_2|=5-1\\\\=> 2|F_2|=4\\\\=>|F_2|=2N\\\\|F_1|=3N

Given , \theta=60^{0}

Resultant,|F_{net}|=\sqrt{F_1^2+F_2^2+2F_1F_2.cos\theta} \\\\=>|F_{net}|=\sqrt{3^2+2^2+2(3)(2)cos(60)} \\\\=>|F_{net}|=\sqrt{9+4+6}\\\\ =>|F_{net}|=\sqrt{19} N

So the resultant of the forces when they act at 60 ° is \sqrt{19} Newtons
