solution;

Mode= 3 Median - 2 mean

=> 16= 3 median - 2*28

=> 16= 3 median - 56

=> 3 median= 72

=> median= 72/3= 24

so, Median of distribution is 24

Hope it helps

Given : The mean and mode of a frequency distribution are 28 and 16 respectively.

To find : The median of the distribution.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the median of the distribution)

Here, we will be using the following mathematical relationship.

Mean - Mode = 3 × (Mean - Median)

By, putting the available data in the above mentioned mathematical relationship, we get :

28 - 16 = 3 × (28 - Median)

3 × (28 - Median) = 28 - 16

3 × (28 - Median) = 12

28 - Median = 12/3

28 - Median = 4

Median - 28 = -4 [Taken -1 common on both sides]

Median = 28 - 4

Median = 24

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, the median of the distribution is 24
