SOLUTION

GIVEN

The mean and S.D. of a binomial distribution are 25 And 5 respectively

TO DETERMINE

The number of trial n

EVALUATION

Let the parameter in the binomial distribution are n and p

Then q = 1 - p

Mean = np

 \sf{S. D =  \sqrt{npq} }

So by the given condition

np = 25 - - - - (1)

 \sf{\sqrt{npq} = 5 }

 \sf{npq=2 5  \:  \:  \:  -  -  -  - (2)}

From Equation 1 and Equation 2 we get

q = 1

Which is impossible

So the required number of trial can not determined
