Given : mean and standard deviation of a normal distribution are 60 and 9 respectively

To Find : the upper quartile

Solution:

Mean = 60

SD = 9

Z score = ( Value - Mean) / SD

Upper Quartile is 75 % of data  => 0.75

From z score table value of

z score for 0.75 is  0.675

0.675 = ( Value - 60)/9

=> 6.075 =  Value - 60

=> Value = 66.075

=> Value ≈  66

Upper Quartile is  66
