Explanation:

  • x = 17
  • σ^2 = 33
  • S.D = √33

33 = Σxi^2 / 10 - 289

Σxi^2 / 10 = 33

Σixi^2 = 3220

x (bar) =  Σixi / n = x1 + x2 + x3 ---- x10 / 10 = 17

Σixi  =  x1 + x2 + x3 ---- x10  = 170

x1 + x2 + x3 ---- + x9 = 144

Σixi   = 144

x (bar) = Σixi   / n = 144 / 9 = 16

S.D =  √ Σixi ^2 / n' - (x bar)^2

S.D =  √  2554 / 9 - (16)^2 / 1

S.D = √  250 / 9 = 5.16

Thus the value of standard deviation is 5.16
