Answer:

Mean Deviation = Σ|x − μ|/N

calculate mean of 18,12,15 =(18 +12+15) / 3= 15

M.D = Σ(|18-15|+ |12-15| + |15-15|)/3

M.D = Σ|+3 + 3 +0|/3

M.D = 2

Negative sign will convert into positive bcz of absolute in the mean devation formula

The mean deviation is 2.

Given: 12 15 18

To find: We have to find the mean deviation.

Solution:

To determine mean deviation first we have to determine the mean of the numbers.

Thus the mean of 12 15 18 is-

 \frac{12 + 15 + 18}{3}  = 15

Now we have to substrate 15 from each number and then we have to do the sum of the resultant numbers.

Thus mean deviation will be-

 \frac{(12 - 15) + (15 - 15) + (18 - 15)}{3}

 \frac{3 + 0 + 3}{3}\\=2

The mean deviation is 2.
