Given,

The mean of 10 numbers is 33

5 is subtracted from each number.

To Find,

New mean

Solution,

Mean is actually the sum of all the observations divided by the number of observations. Here we are given that mean of 10 numbers is 33.

Mean = sum of observation / number of observation\\

33 = n /10\\330 = n\\

So the sum of observation is 330.

Now 5 is subtracted from each of the numbers. So here 5 * 10 is done to find an overall number that has to be subtracted.

Mean = sum of observation / number of observation\\

Mean = (330 - 50) / 10

Mean = 280 /10\\Mean = 28

Hence, if the mean of 10 numbers is 33. If 5 is subtracted from every number then the new mean will be28.
