The mean of 10 observations is 14, what will be the new mean will be 15 by adding a new observation 25

Given:

  • 10 Observations with Mean 14
  • New Observation added = 25

To Find:

  • New Mean

Formula for Mean:

\text{Mean}=\dfrac{\text{sum of all the obervations}}{\text{number of the observations}}

Step 1:

Find Sum of 10 observations:

Sum of 10 observations = Number of observations x Mean

Sum of 10 observations =  10 x  14  = 140

Step 2:

Find New  Sum of observations by adding 25

New Sum of observations = 140 + 25 = 165

Step 3:

Add 1 in 10 to find new number of observations

Number of Observation 10 + 1 = 11

Step 4:

Find New Mean by dividing new Sum of observations (165) by new number of observations (11)

New Mean = 165/11

=> New Mean =  15

The mean of 10 observations is 14, what will be the new mean will be 15 by adding a new observation 25
