Here, n=100 and x¯=100

Then, mean =Σni=1xin

∴1100×Σ100i=1xi=50⇒x100i=1i=5000……………(i)

Now, the observation 50 is replaced by 150, then Eq. (i) becomes,

Σ100i=1xi=5000−50+150=5100

∴ Resulting mean =Σ100i=1xi100=5100100=51

Hence, the resulting mean is 51.
