Mean=sum of all the observations/total number of observations.

SOLUTION:

Given:

Mean of 11 observations = 50

Mean of first 6 observations= 49

Mean of last 6 observations= 52

Sum of the first 6 observations=( 6 ×49)= 294

Sum of the last 6 observations =(6×52)=312

Sum of 11 observations=  50×11= 550

The 6th observation = Sum of the first 6 observations +  Sum of the last 6 observations - Sum of 11 observations

The 6th observation = 294 +312 -550

= 606 -550= 56

Hence, The 6th observation is 56.
