mean = sum of all data / total no. of all data

Mean =

 \frac{12 + x + 14 + 2x + 16 + 18 + x + 20 + 22 - x + 24 - 3x}{7} \\ \\ = \frac{126 + 4x - 4x}{7} \\ \\ = \frac{126}{7} \\ \\ = 18

Hence the answer is option (b) 18

Given : 12+x,14+2x,16,18+x, 20,22-x and 24-3x

To Find : Mean

16

18

20

20+x

Solution:

Mean = Sum of all observations / number of observation

12  + x

14 + 2x

16

18 + x

20

22 - x

24 - 3x

______

126 + 4x - 4x  =  126

Sum of all observations = 126

Number of observation  = 7

Mean = 126/7  = 18

The mean of 12+x,14+2x,16,18+x, 20,22-x and 24-3x is : 18
