The mean of 15numbers is 5. If 2is added to each number,then find the new mean?

Answer: the mean of 15 numbers is 5

therefore their sum=15*5=75

if 2 is added to each number then 2 is added to the all the 15 numbers

therefore 2*15 or 30 more will be added to the sum or 75

=75+30=105

therefore new mean = 105/15=7 [mean=sum of observations/no. of observations]

Mean of 15 numbers is 5

Total of 15 numbers is 15×5=75

If 2 is added to each number total of change is 2×5=10

After adding 2 to each number the new toal of 5 numbers is 75+10=85

Now the new mean is 85/5 = 17
