The mean of 2,7,6 and x is 5 and mean of 18,1,6,x and y is 10. what is the value of y ?​

Mean of 2,7,6 and x = 5

We know that :-

$\boxed{ \rm \large mean (m)= \frac{sum \: of \: terms }{number \: of \: terms} }$

Now, according to the question :-

$\rm \longrightarrow \dfrac{2 + 7 + 6 + x}{4} = 5 \\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow {2 + 7 + 6 + x} = 5 \times 4 \\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow {2 + 7 + 6 + x} = 20\\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow {15 + x} = 20\\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow { x} = 20 - 15\\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow { x} = 5$

Therefore , Value of x = 5

Mean of 18,1,6,x and y = 10

$\rm \longrightarrow \dfrac{18+ 1+ 6 + 5 + y}{5} = 10 \\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow \dfrac{30 + y}{5} = 10 \\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow {30 + y} =50 \\ \\ \\ \rm \longrightarrow {y} =20$
