The mean of 20 observations is 31 in this data one one observation was taken by mistake as 52 instead of 25. Find the correct mean.

sum of 20 observations =31×20=620

but one observation is wrong
and the correct one is 25

difference in the correct sum of all observations =52-25=27

so
correct mean=620-27/20
=593/20
=29.65
