the mean of 31 reasults is 60 . if the mean of first 16 reasults is 58 and that of the last 16 reasults is 62 . find the 16th reasult

Total of 31/31 = 60

Total of 31 = 60 * 31

                 = 1860

Total of first 16 / 16 = 58

                         = 928

Total of last 16 / 16 = 62

                               = 992

Now we know that there are total 31 terms in the mean but we are given the data of

First 16 terms + Last 16 terms = 32 terms

So ,

(total of first 16 terms + total of last 16 terms) - (total of 31 terms) = the 16th term

(928 + 992) - 1860 = 16th term

1920 - 1860 = 16th term

16th term = 60
