The mean of 40 numbers was a found to be 38 later on it was detected that a number 56 was misread as a 36. find the correct mean of given number.

I think the correct mean is 38.5 because in mean the increase or decrease in every observation causes same increase or decrease in mean also so here the increase in a observation is 20 . So if we distribute it to every 40 observations each observation will get 0.5 increase so the mean would also increase by 0.5
