given::

to calculate mean of \tt \dfrac{5}{7} \:and\: \dfrac{7}{5}

solution::

to calculate the average/mean ,

we first add the numbers.

\tt ===> \dfrac{5}{7}+\dfrac{7}{5}

\tt ===> \dfrac{5×5}{7×5}+\dfrac{7×7}{5×7}

\tt ===> \dfrac{25}{35}+\dfrac{49}{35}

\tt ===> \dfrac{74}{35}

now,

divide the sum by the total number of observations which is 2 in this case.

\tt ===> \dfrac{74}{35×2}

\boxed{\blue{\tt ===> \dfrac{74}{70}}}

you can leave the answer till here or simplify further as :-

\boxed{\red{\tt ===> \dfrac{37}{35}}}

now since 37 is a prime we cannot simplify further. hence, 37/35 is the mean of 5/7 and 7/5

hope this helps..!!
