mean of 5no =18
mean of 1 no = 5×18=90
excluded = 5-1=4
mean of 1 no = 4×16=64
no= 90-64= 26

Here is ur answer :

Let the five numbers be x1, x2, x3, x4, x5

Mean of 5 numbers = 18

Mean
 =  \frac{sum \:  \: of \:  \: all \: \:  observations}{total \:  \: number \:  \: of \:  \: obsevations}

 \frac{x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5}{5}  = 18

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 = 18 \times 5

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5  = 90 \:  \: \:  \:  \:  .......(1)

If one number is excluded, I. E. x5

Then mean is 16

  \frac{x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 }{4}   = 16

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4  = 16 \times 4

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4  = 64

Putting the value in x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 in eqⁿ (1)

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5  = 90

64 - x5 = 90

x5 = 90 - 64

x5 = 26

Excluded number = 26
