X1+x2+x3+x4+x5/5=20
x1+x2+x3+x4+x5=100-》Eq 1
x1+x2+x3+x4/4=23
x1+x2+x3+x4=92Eq-》Eq 2
Substitute the Eq 2 in Eq 1
So;,92+x5=100
x5=8
Therefore the excluded number is 8.

Let the excluded number be x,
Mean=Sum of observations/Total number of obs.
Sum of observations=Mean ×Toatl observations
Therefore,
Sum of 5 numbers=20×5=100
Sum of remaining 4 numbers= 23×4=92
Sum of 4 observations+x = Sum of 5 observation
92+x=100
x=100-92=8
Mean=Sum of observations/Total number of obs.
Sum of observations=Mean ×Toatl observations
Therefore,
Sum of 5 numbers=20×5=100
Sum of remaining 4 numbers= 23×4=92
Sum of 4 observations+x = Sum of 5 observation
92+x=100
x=100-92=8
