Given that mean of 5 numbers is 27
Let the five numbers are a,b,c,d,e.
Mean= sum of values/number of values
=> a+b+c+d+e/5= 27
=> a+b+c+d+e= 27×5
=> a+b+c+d+e= 135............1
If the number is excluded the mean is 25
=> a+b+c+d/4= 25
=> a+b+c+d= 25×4
=> a+b+c+d= 100...............2
By solving 1 and 2 we get the fifth number e= 135-100= 35
