The value of x is 11.

Given:

The mean of 6, 6+2x, 5 and 8+3x is 20.

To Find:

The value of x.

Solution:

Mean= Sum of the terms/Number of terms

Sum of the terms= 6+6+2x+5+8+3x=25+5x

Number of terms=4

Mean= 25+5x/4

20=5(5+x)/4 ⇒ 80=5(5+x)

16=5+x

x=16-5=11

The value of x is 11
