Mean=Sum of all observations/Total no of observations

Here,total observations is 5

=>(6+8+x+2+10+2)/5=9

=>28+x=45

=>x=45-28

=>x=17

Hence,value of x is 17.

The given observations :

( 6 ) , ( 8 ) , ( x + 2 ) , ( 10 ) and ( 2 )

Mean these five observations = 9

Thus,

 \qquad \frac{(6) + (8) + (x + 2) + (10) + (2)}{5} = 9 \\ \\ \implies6 + 8 \: + x + 2 + 10 + 2 = (9)(5) \\ \\ \implies x + 28 = 45 \\ \\ \implies x = (45 - 28) \\ \\ \implies x = 17
Hence, the value of x is 17.
