Step-by-step explanation:

mean formula= A.M=∑x/N

Mean of 7, 9, and 'x' = 4, 8, 9and 11

  • mean of 4, 8, 9 and 11 = ∑x= 32, N=4

                                                = 32/4= 8

  • mean of 7, 9 and 'x'= 8

                               = ∑x/N= 8

                               = (7+9)+x=8

                               = 16+x=8

    By  transposing = x= 8-16 = 8

      therefore 'x'= 8

  • Verification=

mean of 7, 9, and 'x' = 4, 8, 9 and 11

A.M=∑x/N

7, 9, 8(x)= 24/3= 8
