Solution

now mean of the data is

$= \frac{8 + 18 + x + 10 + 15 + 17 + 21 + 24}{8} \\ = \frac{113 + x}{8}$

now according to the Question mean is 18.5

so

$= > \frac{113 + x}{8} = 18.5 \\ = > 113 + x = 148 \\ = > x = 148 - 113 \\ = > x = 35$

therefore the value of X is =35

So

1. Commas(,)here means additio so your equation will be after putting plus sign on commas and also is 18.5 mean=18.5

2. Your equation will be 8+18+x+10+15+17+21+24=18.5

3. You will plus all number except x so your equation. Will be

113+×=18.5

3. Now you can see that113 is plusing with x that side it will minus with 18.5 so your equation. Will be

113+x=18.5

113+x=185 over 10

X=185 over 10 -113

X=72over10

X=7.2
