Mean of eight numbers = 27

So, sum of eight numbers = (8 × 27) = 216

One more number is included .

New mean of 9 numbers = 26

So, sum of nine numbers = (9 × 26) = 234

Then,

Included number = 234 - 216 = 18

Mean = SUM OF ALL OBSERVATIONS / NUMBER OF OBSERVATIONS. so the new included number is = sum of new 9 observations - sum of old 8 observations. so the answer is 18.
