The mean of 8 observations 9. Two new obsenations 10 and 14 are added to the group.
Find the mean of 10 observations​

Solution :-

The mean of 8 observations is 9

Therefore,

As we know that,

Mean

= Sum of observation / Total observation

Let the sum of observations be x

Subsitute the required values ,

9 = x/8

9 * 8 = x

x = 72

Thus, The sum of 8 observations is 72

Now,

10 and 14 are new observation are added to sum of observation and total observation become 9

Therefore, Again By using mean formula

Mean

= Sum of observation / Total observation

Subsitute the required values,

Mean = 72 + 10 + 14 / 10

Mean = 86 + 10 / 10

Mean = 96/10

Mean = 9.6

Hence,The mean of 10 observations is 9.6 .
