Mean of 8 variates = 10.5

Seven of them are = 3,15,7,19,2,17,and 8

Let the 8th variates be x

Since, Mean = Sum of all observations / total number of observations

= 3+15+7+19+2+17+8+x / 8 = 10.5

= 71+x / 8 = 10.5

= x+71 = 10.5×8

= x+71 = 84.0

= x = 84.0 - 71

= x = 13
