The mean of marks scored by 100 students was found to be 40. Later on it was discovered that a score of 53 was misread as 83. Find the incorrect mean.How do you so,ve this?​

therefore,

X= (mean)(total students)

X = 40*100=4000.

X = 83+sum of other 99 score.

4000-83=sum of other 99 score.

sum of all frequency is (53+sum of other 99 score.)

sum of all frequency =3970.

therefore

new mean= 3970/100
