the mean of marks scored by 100 students was found to be 60. Later on it was discovered that a score of 42was misread as 53. Find the correct mean?​

mean=sum of observation /no of observations

  

sum of observations = mean x no of observations

 

that is 60 x 100

     

           = 6000

after replacement, sum of new observation=6000-83+53

                                                                    =5970

mean of new observation = 5970/100

                                         =59.7
