ANSWER:-----

given data :- 18, 14, 15, 19, 15, a, 12, 15, 16

given mean = 16

we know that mean = (sum of all observations)/(total no. of observations)

→ (18 + 14 + 15 + 19 + 15 + a + 12 + 15 + 16)/9 = 16

→ 124 + a = 16 × 9

→ 124 + a = 144

→ a = 144 - 124

→ a = 20

now, median :-

first of all, we have to write the data in ascending order.

= 12, 14, 15, 15, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20

since n = 9 (odd)

we will use (n + 1/2)th formula

it's median = (9 + 1/2)th

= 10/2th term

= 5th term

= 15

hence, it's median is 15.

mode is also 15 since it's frequency is highest in the given data.
