The mean of runs scored by a cricket team in the last 10 innings is 276. If the scores
are 235, 400, 351, x, 100, 315, 410, 165, 260, 284, then find the runs scored in the

Given:

  • The mean of runs scored by a cricket team in the last 10 innings is 276
  • scores are 235, 400, 351, x, 100, 315, 410, 165, 260, 284

To finD:

  • Run scored in fourth inning?

Solution:

Given that score in last 10 innings are 235, 400, 351, x, 100, 315, 410, 165, 260, 284. In this total score, we have given fourth inning is x. We have to find value of x if mean of these innings is 276.

We know that :

\large{\sf{\blue{Mean\:=\: \dfrac{sum\:of\:all\: observation}{number\: of\: observation}}}}

Where,

  • Observations are 235, 400, 351, x, 100, 315, 410, 165, 260, 284
  • Number of observations is 10
  • Means is 276.

Let put values in the above mentioned formula :-

\large{\sf{Mean\:=\:\dfrac{sum\:of\:all\: observation}{number\:of\: observation}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{276\:=\:\dfrac{235+400+351+x+100+315+410+165+260+284}{10}}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{276\:=\:\dfrac{2520+x}{10}}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{276×10\:=\:2520+x}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{2760\:=\:2520+x}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{x\:=\:2760-2520}}}

\normalsize{\implies{\sf{x\:=\:240}}}

Therefore,

\large{\boxed{\sf{\pink{Run\:scored\:in\: fourth\: inning\: is\:240}}}}
